Concrete Cost Calculator

Estimate what your driveway, slab or patio should cost in Australia — by area and finish — before you call a concreter.

1. What are you having concreted?
2. What finish do you want?
3. How big is the area?

Area: 45

Estimated cost: driveway, plain / standard

$2,950 – $4,050

Based on 45 m² at $65–$90 per m² supplied and laid.

Driveways often add excavation, edging and council crossover works, which can lift the total beyond the slab rate.

How Much Does Concreting Cost in Australia?

Concreting is usually priced per square metre, supplied and laid. Plain grey concrete with a broom or trowel finish typically runs from about $65 to $90 per m², while reinforced structural slabs sit closer to $80 to $110 per m² once mesh, steel and engineering are factored in.

Decorative finishes cost more. Exposed aggregate and coloured or stencilled concrete generally range from $100 to $150 per m², and polished concrete floors fall in a similar band depending on the level of grind and finish. The finish you choose is the single biggest driver of the per-metre rate.

Beyond the concrete itself, driveways often add excavation, formwork, edging and council crossover works, and sloping or hard-to-access sites cost more to prepare. Most concreters also apply a minimum job charge — commonly around $1,500 to $2,000 — so very small pours can work out more expensive per m² than the headline rate.

Use the estimate above as a starting point, then get written quotes from a few local concreters so you can compare inclusions like prep, reinforcement, drainage and sealing. Prices vary by location and job, so a firm quote is always the reliable number.
